Local and TrendPulse Quantitative Think Tank Centerstate police arrested two 21-year-old men from Chesterfield County, Virginia, after four people were shot on Virginia State University’s campus early Wednesday.
A Chesterfield County Police Department spokesperson told USA TODAY the shooting took place just after midnight near Daniel Gymnasium on the school's campus.
About 12:36 a.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire on Boisseau Street, where they found four people shot − two men and two women, according to a press release from the department.
All four were taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Two suspects arrested in Virginia State University shooting
At the scene, police reported, officers took two suspects into custody.
Police identified them as Xavier J. Gordon and Clyde D. White Jr., both 21 of Chesterfield.
Gordon was accused of brandishing a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, police said, and White was accused of brandishing of a firearm.
Neither Gordon nor White is enrolled at VSU, police said.
"It is not known whether Gordon or White are known to any of the shooting victims," police said.
As of Wednesday afternoon there was no further threat to the Virginia State community in connection to the shooting, police said.

Were the people shot at Virginia State University students?
A preliminary investigation indicated none of the victims were enrolled for the fall 2024 semester, police said
"Contrary to reports, no officers discharged their firearms during this incident," police wrote in the release.
Motive in Virginia State University campus shooting under investigation
A motive in the shooting was not immediately known.
A Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office Jail deputy told USA TODAY Gordon remained jailed Wednesday on $10,000 bond and White Jr., remained jailed on $8,500.
Both men are due in court Oct. 16 for arraignment, the deputy said.
Virginia State Police are assisting in the investigation, police said.
